Industrial air coolers
The professional air cooler is the most economical cooling solution for warehouses, workshops, and industrial halls. At Climatik, we support French professionals in selecting air coolers suitable for large volumes requiring natural cooling without costly air conditioning.
Our range includes industrial air coolers from 5,000 to 35,000 m³/h, operating by water evaporation. These devices lower the temperature by 5 to 12°C with electricity consumption 10 times lower than traditional air conditioning.
Principle of evaporative cooling
The air cooler operates by natural evaporation: hot outside air passes through humidified panels (cellulose or synthetic fibers) constantly watered. The evaporation of water absorbs calories from the air, lowering its temperature by 5 to 12°C depending on ambient humidity. The cooled air is then blown into the premises by a high-pressure centrifugal fan.
Unlike air conditioning which uses a compressor and refrigerant fluid, the cooler only consumes electricity for the fan and water pump: 500 to 2,500 watts depending on the flow rate. Equivalent air conditioning would consume 5,000 to 15,000 watts. Energy savings reach 80 to 90%.
Optimal efficiency: Evaporation works best in dry weather (humidity <60%). Hot and dry climate: cooling 10-12°C. Hot and humid climate: cooling 5-7°C. In Mediterranean or continental climates, efficiency is excellent. In very humid oceanic climates, efficiency decreases but remains acceptable.
Comparison with air conditioning
Cooler advantages: Electricity consumption 10 times lower than air conditioning. Reduced investment: €1,500 to €8,000 compared to €10,000 to €40,000 for industrial air conditioning. Simple installation: mounting + water inlet + electricity. No refrigerant fluid, 100% ecological solution. Constant air renewal (fresh outdoor air intake). Operates with open doors unlike air conditioning.
Cooler limitations: Efficiency dependent on ambient humidity. No precise temperature control (air conditioning reaches exact setpoint temperature). Moisture input into the air: +5 to +15% humidity (incompatible with premises requiring very dry air). Water consumption: 10 to 40 liters/hour depending on air flow.
Selection rule: Need for moderate cooling (+25 to +30°C targeted) for team comfort = perfect cooler. Need for precise temperature (+22°C constant) or very dry air mandatory = air conditioning required. Limited budget or large area = cooler is the only viable option.
Sizing and applications
Sizing: Calculate the necessary air flow according to volume and desired air changes. Rule: 30 to 50 air changes/hour for optimal efficiency. Example: Workshop 500 m² × 5 m = 2,500 m³ requires 2,500 m³ × 40 = 100,000 m³/h = 4 coolers of 25,000 m³/h or 3 coolers of 30,000 m³/h.
Logistics warehouses massively use coolers to improve team comfort in summer without prohibitive energy costs. Industrial workshops position coolers at workstations exposed to heat (welding, foundry, ovens). Exhibition halls, sports halls, agricultural hangars benefit from efficient cooling at lower cost.
Installation and maintenance
- Installation requires: wall or roof mounting, water inlet, 230V electrical connection, overflow drainage. Optional textile ducts for uniform distribution. Duration: 4 to 8 hours per unit.
- Maintenance consists of monthly cleaning of evaporative panels, tank drainage, pump check. Panel replacement every 2-3 years (€100-€300). Lifespan: 10 to 12 years.
