Hot Water Unit Heater
The professional hot water air heater is the most sustainable heating solution for industrial sites equipped with a central boiler room. At Climatik, we assist French professionals in selecting hot water air heaters for installations connected to an existing gas, oil, or biomass boiler.
Our range includes hot water air heaters from 10 to 80 kW, equipped with copper-aluminum finned coils and industrial fans. These warm air generators distribute the heat produced by your boiler room throughout your premises with a lifespan of 15 to 20 years.
Hot water principle: efficiency and longevity
The hot water air heater operates connected to a central boiler producing hot water at 70 to 90°C. This water circulates in a finned exchanger (copper coil with aluminum fins) through which the fan's pulsed air passes. The air is heated by thermal exchange then diffused into the premises. The cooled water returns to the boiler to be reheated in a closed circuit.
Major advantage: the centralization of heat production. A single boiler supplies several air heaters distributed in different buildings or zones. This architecture allows the use of economical energy sources (natural gas, biomass) or the recovery of waste heat from industrial processes. Regulation is simply carried out by a motorized three-way valve controlling the water flow according to the desired temperature.
Available powers: 10 to 80 kW depending on water flow and number of fin rows (2, 3, or 4 rows). A 30 kW air heater with 80°C water effectively heats 600 to 900 m². The temperature rise occurs in 20 to 40 minutes depending on volume and insulation.
Comparison with other technologies
Hot water advantages: The most economical solution if a central boiler room is already installed. Exceptional lifespan: 15 to 20 years versus 12-15 years for electric. Reduced maintenance: no burner, no electric resistors. Allows heating premises far from the boiler room (up to 100 meters). Works with any heat source: gas, oil, biomass boiler, heat pump, process heat recovery.
Hot water limitations: Absolutely requires an existing or new central boiler room. More technical installation: hydraulic supply/return connections, control valve, air vent. Boiler room investment if non-existent: €15,000 to €50,000 depending on power. Higher thermal inertia: response time 10-15 minutes vs. instantaneous for electric/gas.
Strategic decision: Existing central boiler room with available capacity = hot water is obvious. Several buildings to heat (total >1,000 m²) = creating a boiler room + hot water air heaters is more cost-effective. Isolated site without a boiler room = prefer autonomous gas air heaters or electric ones.
Installation and maintenance
The installation of a hot water air heater requires hydraulic connections to an existing network: steel or multilayer supply/return piping, motorized three-way valve for regulation, automatic air vent, circulator if far away. Wall mounting or suspension identical to other air heaters. Commissioning: circuit filling, air bleeding, valve adjustment, performance testing. Installation time: 4 to 8 hours per unit depending on distance to boiler room.
Annual maintenance consists of cleaning the finned coil (dust accumulation reduces heat exchange), checking connection leaks, checking the motorized valve, and testing the regulation. No combustion maintenance as this is centralized in the boiler. Lifespan: 15 to 20 years, limited wear parts: motorized valve (10-12 years, €200-400), fan (12-15 years, €200-400).
Professional applications
Multi-building industrial sites equip their workshops, warehouses, and offices with hot water air heaters supplied by a central gas or biomass boiler room. This is a consistent solution for 2,000 to 10,000 m² distributed areas. Industrial processes generating waste heat (furnaces, compressors, cogeneration) valorize this energy via hot water air heaters. Agricultural sites with biomass boilers (wood, straw) distribute economical heat in livestock buildings and greenhouses.
